Norman HunterNorman Hunter

Former Leeds United, Bristol City, Barnsley and England defender.

 

Norman Hunter played for Leeds United Football Club from 1960 to 1975. As part of the 'Glory Days' team, he played in over 700 games winning many titles. He then joined Bristol City in 1975 and was there for three and a half years before moving back to the North.

As a manager, he took Barnsley from the Third Division to the Second Division. He has also managed at Rotherham and was Assistant Manager at West Bromwich Albion and Bradford City.

Internationally, Norman has won 28 caps for England. He was part of the famed 1966 World Cup Squad and he also played in Mexico in the 1970 World Cup. In 1974, Norman was voted the first ever Players Player of the Year by the Professional Footballers Association.

Currently, Norman works for the local media and is a popular figure on the After Dinner Circuit.
